Compassion in Action

Compassion in Action serves those age 60 and above, living at home in Medina County

Compassion in Action is the volunteer caregiving program of the MCOOA. Our services cover areas traditional supports may miss. It connects community volunteers with seniors who require assistance to maintain their dignity and quality of life. There is never a charge for services.

Services include:

Transportation
Clients are driven to and from appointments or shopping. Clients must be able to get in and out of a car independently or with minimal assistance.

Friendly Visiting
Volunteers provide friendship and companionship for older adults who may be lonely or socially isolated. Activities include talking, watching TV or a movie together, reading a book, playing games, enjoying hobbies, etc.

Light Housekeeping
Housekeeping chores are essential for cleanliness, health and safety but can be very difficult and burdensome for some older adults. Volunteers provide light housekeeping services for care receivers in order to help them maintain a clean and safe living environment.

Light Yardwork
Volunteers provide light yard work services for care receivers who live in their own homes. These services focus on essential yard maintenance and safety. These services are usually seasonal and often provided on an “as needed” basis.

Compassion in Action offers life-enriching volunteer opportunities. We provide volunteers with:
 • Training
 • Support
 •  Flexibility
 •  Community
 •  A means of putting their compassion into action
